Miss Botho University 2012
Fusion Entertainment in the suburbs of Phakalane was just the perfect place to be on the 5th of May 2012 as the Botho University Student Representative Council (SRC) hosted the Miss Botho University 2012 beauty pageant. The venue was filled to capacity with beautiful faces of Botho University students, well wishers and the general public who came to appreciate the other side of the beautiful, young and talented women studying at the institution. The organization of the whole event was spot on. The pageant was held within the specified time, a rare feat for an event on this scale with enough time for the revelers to even enjoy an after party with the contestants. Miss Botswana Director, Boingotlo Motlalekgosi, was the Director of Ceremonies and for someone who has been in the industry for that long, the event was sure to be a smooth run. The Botho University SRC managed quite a scoop with very high profile guests on the judges panel including the very beautiful Miss
World 2010 1st Princess, Emma Wareus. The crowd was also quite impressive as the up-market entertainment joint was filled to capacity with revelers dressed to impress almost at the same level as the pageant contestants. The contest came in 3 folds. It began with a swim wear round, followed by the casual wear and ended with the highly anticipated evening gown parade which saw the contestants putting up a scintillating display in their Sunday best. The dresses came in all shapes and colours but red seemed to be the colour of the night as almost half of the contestants rocked red dresses. After a tough duel on the ramp, it was now time for the judges to select their top 6 contestants who were grilled with questions from the judges. It was at this stage that now the contestants had to prove their mettle as not being mere eye candy but also possessing a keen intellect. Confidence and understanding of the question ( not an easy feat considering the loud cheers from the crowd) was of paramount importance to the contestants. In the end however it did not prove to be too tough a task for the judges to decide who would make the podium finish. The final question popped to the top three was based on the social responsibility of the school. The judges then conferred amongst themselves and agreed on Eunice Onkelame Mothabane being the fairest and cleverest of them all. She was crowned Miss Botho University 2012 and will act as the institution’s ambassador alongside Katlego Masilo and Katlego Tshukudu as the first and second runners up respectively.
All in all it was a fine display of excellent organization skills by the Botho University SRC who managed to impress all in attendance. The Miss Botho University beauty pageant will now become an annual event to lookout for thanks to their efforts.
